Belize and Guatemala
I visited Belize and Guatemala in March of 2009. Both countries were very similar while at the same time, they were very different. In Belize everyone speaks english and tourism has been very developed – while in Guatemala, spanish is the main language and years of civil war and corruption have hit hard. The Mayan ruins were amazing and the people in both countries were amazingly friendly and kind. I really wish I owned an underwater/waterproof camera, because some of the highlights of my trip are snorkeling and cave swimming – both of which I couldn't photograph (I guess I'll just have to make another trip soon).
